There is magic in every beginning.

How do you think beyond the simple reuse of a vacant property? How do you start the discussion about the future of the city center without creating mental blocks right from the start with overly concrete proposals?

How can the expertise of both experts and citizens be utilized equally? These are the questions being asked by Nuremberg's SPD City Council faction and its chairwoman, Christine Kayser.

The event invites visitors to a city walk in front of and around the site of potential change. Experts from academia, retail, culture, and tourism are invited to provide initial input through discussion. Finally, those interested are gathered at K4 to hear from the Stadtmanufaktur about other cities and their approaches.

The participants take this bouquet of ideas and suggestions and consider for themselves: What would we want for this Kaufhof building, this location, and its surroundings in downtown Nuremberg? Each person has three suggestions, which are mixed and presented back to the circle of experts. They take them up and combine them, for example, with the ideas of the university, not without expanding and enriching the idea. Initial images emerge; various futures for the city center suddenly become tangible. Idea after idea is discussed on the podium, not without critical comments from urban planning experts on the state of planning in Nuremberg.

We are still thrilled that we were able to shape and moderate this beginning of a discussion and participation process in our hometown!
Good luck with the next steps and the extended round in the fall.
